Dining out in La Quinta is serious business for all of our Associates and friends, so we have tried to identify all of the eateries in La Quinta and shared with you our experience and unbiased opinions. Again, please remember that we are usually on some fad diet so our judgment can be seriously impaired or swayed by a pretty face…or a strong pour from a friendly bartender. The best way to judge for yourself is to visit our fair city and make your reservations early.
The Cliff House of La Quinta: Great bar food and great looking All American hostesses even before you reach the main dining room. A real comfortable atmosphere that offers good food at fair prices. If you should wander into the formal dining room you can expect traditional American fare at reasonable prices. Some of the best conversations happen when you are eating outside on the patio on the cliff with the beautiful views of the desert sky and the wondrous rock pile that gives this La Quinta landmark its name.
Beachside Café: Good for breakfast…if you are having lunch ask for a table out on the patio.
The Beer Hunter: The classic spots bar that delivers on good bar food at fair prices and enough televisions to rival the floor of the NYSE. A wide variety of beers are offered and some intellectual past time diversions are also available such as pool, foosball and such.
Fisherman’s Market & Grill: Great seafood fresh each day from the coast. Two ex-fishermen originated this fish market concept restaurant and they now have three locations. So they must be doing something right…because this is still a very small community and we all talk.
El Ranchito: Good traditional Mexican cantina food at very reasonable pricing. Located in downtown La Quinta and a luncheon favorite for the locals.
In And Out Burger: A California classic burger place…order your hamburger Animal if you can handle it.
The Falls Steak House: Kind of a West LA artsy presentation with excellent food. The service can be spotty, but the ambience is worth the trip. Don’t miss the smoking martinis and the martini bar with its jumping water fountains behind the alfresco bar.
Las Casuelas La Quinta: A greater Palm Springs favorite serving tradition Mexican fare and lively Mexican entertainment. Always great when you have east coast guests and they need something to talk about upon their return to Philadelphia.
LG’s Prime Steakhouse: Review in process.
The Palms: The gold standard of steak houses. When our need is great we hit the roat to LA or Las Vegas. Then we tee it up at Riviera or Shadow Creek.
The Sandbar: Great little La Quinta hideaway that is most popular with the locals. You had better call for reservations, as the seating is limited and usually spoken for between 5 PM and 9:30PM in season. Tradition American Fare with a bit of entertainment that has made the desert popular with the people in the know.
Ciro’s: Local pizza place in downtown La Quinta with tradition southern Italian food that is an informal favorite with the local pizza set. Casual, informal…a good place to take the family with the kids.
Morton’s of Chicago: Not in La Quinta…but close by (Palm Desert) and always worth the trip. This traditional steak house is everything that you have come to expect with great ambience, service and excellent steaks, fish and those side dishes that pack on the pounds and round out the check.
The Adobe Grill: A long standing standard in La Quinta that features nouveau Mexican dishes and some excellent tequila concoctions that will keep you coming back again. If possible, ask for a table on the deck overlooking the La Quinta Resort and the live entertainment in the resort courtyard.
Morgan’s: A good breakfast place at the La Quinta Resort & Club. It is always fun to see Sean Connery strolling in for breakfast in his slippers. At night the focus turns to a steak house that has received a warm reception.
Daily Grill: Again, not in La Quinta…but this classy bar and grill serves excellent food and is an in-place to dine when you are shopping in Palm Desert on El Paseo. Husbands beware…the Gold Card is excepted at all of the local El Paseo boutiques and national landmarks…Ann Taylor, Saks, Tiffany’s and serious damage can be done.
Arnold Palmer’s Steak House: Coming Soon! Fall 2003. And I am certain that it will be one of our favorites in downtown La Quinta. We will keep you posted…and if we see Arnie, we will pass on your best.
